Cantaritos de barro cups are traditional, small, clay cups that are staples of street fairs in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Know by locals as “the best way to drink tequila,” the namesake cocktail is made by rimming the cup with lime juice and chili salt, squeezing fresh lemon, lime, and grapefruit juice in the cup, and adding a splash of tequila and grapefruit soda. Cantaritos cups maintain a cocktail’s cold temperature, and the handmade nature evoked memories of generations worth of fun.
